*** Dear President Giorgio Napolitano,
I am writing to ask you not to promulgate the law on wiretapping, which, apparently, is approved by Parliament at times inexplicably fast (it is really a priority for our country?). I believe this measure infringes my right to be informed because citizens have a right to know and to be well informed! The rights of expression and information can not be sacrificed in the name of protecting the right to privacy. Privacy protection is not pursued to muzzle the press and publishing, and even limiting the interception because, in doing so, impedes the valuable work of the judiciary and law enforcement in their daily fight against crime. If you actually want to regulate the interception, it envisages the introduction of a "hearing-filter", ie the possibility for the magistrate to submit to a further excerpt from the lyrics of the wiretapping and other documents brought to the attention of the parties, those for Secret passages that relate to third persons not involved in the investigation or the suspects themselves, but for non-essential aspects of private investigation. But you never no public right to know and understand.
It is often said that Parliament is the mirror of society. Well, you know clearly, many citizens of the different political orientations, consider the Bill Alfano a genuine complaint. Our politicians can not in any way claim the right to censor the press, because it is the only tool that allows our citizens to check their work. The entire Italian political class must bear in mind that in a democracy, the elected are held accountable for what they do to the voters. And, in the role of public administrators, politicians have a duty of transparency.

I therefore appeal to you, the guarantor of the Constitution, so that all Italian citizens are assured the rights of expression and information, the same rights that the European Court of Human Rights has defined mainly on the right to confidentiality. Sincerely
